Original Text

In Viet Nam the BIODEV2030 Initiative will be under the co-leadership of the Ministry of MONRE through BCA, and the Ministry of MARD who will politically support Viet Nam’s voluntary commitments to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework; A CORE WORKING GROUP has been set up to give direction to the Initiative, to validate study results and to provide recommendations.

In the first step of the Initiative, a national biodiversity threat assessment based on scientific data identified the main threats to national biodiversity and the related economic sectors with greatest impacts. Results of the assessment were reviewed and discussed by the CORE WORKING GROUP and key relevant stakeholders who identified two sectors for the “dialogue” phase of the Initiative: the AQUACULTURE and FORESTRY sectors.

WWF-Viet Nam is recruiting a National Consultant Firm/ Research Institution or a Group of Consultants to conduct the situation analysis of the Aquaculture and Forestry economic sectors, at the national and local levels, to identify options, opportunities and challenges for future commitments of economic actors in favour of biodiversity. The analysis shall identify options for the sectoral objectives and trajectories needed to reverse the erosion of biodiversity and to achieve NBSAPs and objectives of the post-2020 global framework, towards the 2050 vision (humans living in harmony with nature).
