Design and build for the new multipurpose ocean going research vessel and new coastal research vessel, the following basic requirements are to be complied with:

• Fulfil the latest rules and regulations of the chosen member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) for world-wide operation.
• The vessel’s design shall be based on safety, reliability, availability and maintainability principles.
• The hull form shall be appropriately selected from a proven or derived hull form design with proven good seakeeping and low resistance to minimise installed power requirements. Special care is to be taken regarding the additional adaptations that are to be made to meet the research capacity requirements.
